Animation:Master is a 3D character animation package by Hash, Inc. that includes tools for modeling, animating, and rendering. Animation:Master was developed for and is targeted towards independent artists, so the workflow is designed to allow one artist to create a rendered animated piece from start to finish. The software uses a proprietary spline mesh technology to perform modeling and animation, and it is different in this sense from polygon mesh or NURBS-based programs.
The system used is called patch-based modelling. It uses multiple splines to create intersecting areas, called patches. Animation:Master is unique among 3D modelers in being able to easily support unusual spline topologies including five-sided patches which are unknown in traditional NURBS modelers.
Animation:Master has been used to create some of the most widely viewed animations of the internet age, including "Alien Song" and "Killer Bean 2". It's famed for both its low price and ease of use.
